European Court of Human Rights
01 November 1998 "The new Court"
FranceBy 1998 the Human Rights Court had proved its success. Its influence had spread across the European continent and an increasing number of people were bringing cases. Reform was needed to make sure that it stayed relevant and efficient. In 1998 the procedure was streamlined and judges began to work full time, and anyone who believed their rights had been violated was given a chance to come directly to the Court when they had gone through their own national court system.
