Building Unity in Europe
10 September 1952 The Organisation's status is recognised
All CountriesEvery organisation needs a legal basis to be able to function, to employ staff, pay wages and carry out its day to day work, and that is especially important for an international organisation that needs to work across borders and protect the rights of staff from many different countries. The Council of Europe Agreement on Privileges and Immunities gives legal coverage, protects its property, funds and assets, and ensures that the people working for it are able to live in a foreign country without immigration restrictions and carry out their work without fear of being falsely prosecuted.
