First art exhibition in Brussels

Europe’s rich heritage of art and culture is both a way of understanding the past and discovering the common values that bring us together. That is the motivation behind the Council of Europe’s series of exhibitions, curating art and history in a way that tells the story of Europe through the ideas and imagination of great artists or historical moments that reflect our values. Over the years, the exhibitions have brought alive moments of European history from the Holy Roman Empire to the post-war years and celebrated influential historical periods from Byzantium to the Romantics.
