Court gets third President

Lifelong human rights defender and convinced anti-Fascist Henri Rolin became the Court’s third President in 1968. Rolin had spent the war years as part of the Belgian government in exile in London, and was one of the original contributors to the European Human Rights Convention as a member of the Council of Europe Consultative (later Parliamentary) Assembly. Elected as a judge in 1958, he served as Court President until 1971. He died in 1973.
