A foundation for youth

France France

In the early 70s, the Council of Europe recognised the importance of giving young people a voice in decision-making. The result was the European Youth Foundation; an innovative way of bringing together young people from all over the Council of Europe’s region to share ideas and action. The Foundation funds and provides practical support to youth projects which educate, engage and inspire, using an annual budget of around 3.7 million Euros. Since 1972, more than 340,000 young people aged between 15 and 30 have benefited directly from EYF support, with around 300 projects supported each year.
