Portugal's peaceful coup

The Carnation Revolution, also known as the 25th of April, led to the fall of the authoritarian Estado Novo regime. Almost no shots were fired and people took to the streets to celebrate, offering carnations to soldiers, who placed them in the muzzles of their guns and on their uniforms.
