01 April 1994 Supporting film production
European film producers often struggle to find the financing for developing and producing films. Co-production between different countries is one way to meet the challenge. The 1992 Convention on Cinematographic Co-Production made it easier for film-makers to find funding, provided that at least three co-producers from three different countries were involved. In 2017, twenty-five years after its creation, an updated version was signed to meet the changes in technology and the globalisation of film-making, making it easier for European countries to co-produce with partners from outside Europe.
