25 October 2007 Protecting children against sex abuse
SpainThe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse, known as the Lanzarote Convention, is an essential element in work to end all kinds of sexual offences against children, including exploitation of children through prostitution, grooming and creating child abuse material. It is the most ambitious and comprehensive legal text on the protection of children against sexual abuse and sexual exploitation to date, promising children who seek help that they will be taken seriously and listened to and pledging that adults who sexually abuse or exploit children will be stopped. All Council of Europe member states have signed the convention.
