70th anniversary: Essay competition winners announced
15 national winners have been announced for an essay writing competition to mark the Council of Europe’s 70th anniversary. Young Europeans aged between 14 and 18 were invited to share their thoughts, in either English or French, on how the key values of democracy, human rights and the rule of law connect our continent’s countries and their citizens, as well as what the European of the future would be like.
The winners will each be awarded a diploma at a special 70th anniversary commemorative event in Strasbourg in October 2019.
