Parliamentary Assembly marks 70th anniversary

70 years ago, the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe – later to become “Parliamentary” Assembly – held its inaugural sitting in Strasbourg, at the city’s university. Amid great excitement, it was hailed as the first step to a true “parliament for Europe”.
